CHENNAI: Actor Vishal, who earlier made implicit criticism against the TVK government in Tamil Nadu, has now got reasons to praise the government led by Joseph Vijay. In a major boost to the film industry, the Tamil Nadu government allowed screening of up to five shows in theatres for newly released movies.
Actor Vishal was first among those from the industry to hail praises on the move from the TVK government.
“Thank you, dear @CMOTamilnadu #Vijay avargale, darling of the masses and the most prolific actor turned politician, for understanding the current situation in the film industry and implementing five shows a day for all films for the first 7 days of the film's theatrical release. Looking forward to more GOs passed for the general public in all sectors, bringing about relief and progressive growth. A big whistle from all of us.”
The government decision comes after members of the film industry met the chief minister on May 16, requesting steps to resolve issues hindering the growth of the industry. The new move will make work easier for the producer and the theatre owner. Henceforth, the producer need not approach the licensing officer or government for approval for the fifth show in the theatre.
The move will also make more audience come to the theatres in the opening weeks, thus paving the way for more revenue.
