‘Remove that Methachi's name from list; that senior actor even made comments linking that actress and Mohanlal'

Shocking incidents related to the Malayalam film artists’ association AMMA have been making headlines recently. Reports that came out the other day claimed that actress Ansiba Hassan was verbally abused and called a “jihadi” and someone who converts people to another religion. There are also growing demands to dissolve the current committee and hold fresh elections because of the issues involving the present office-bearers.

Meanwhile, director Alleppey Ashraf has now reacted to the issue. Through his YouTube channel, he revealed certain incidents that allegedly happened during the AMMA elections.

“Ansiba was elected unopposed as the joint secretary of AMMA. This itself shows the respect and support she had from everyone. She was very active in the organisation’s activities and expressed her opinions clearly during meetings. Even when many senior actors failed to take a clear stand, Ansiba spoke openly. That is one of the reasons why some people turned against her.

During the election, when Ansiba’s name came up, one actor said, ‘Remove that Methachi’s name.’ The person who said this is an actor respected by everyone. That actor also made certain comments linking Ansiba and Mohanlal. Hearing such things makes one wonder whether film stars really have such a narrow mindset. What is happening now is the consequence of the decisions taken by AMMA office-bearers in the actress assault case. If things have to change, educated people like Jagadish should come to lead AMMA. He would never encourage caste or religious discrimination,” Alleppey Ashraf said.
