THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Following the election defeat, the CPI raised strong criticism against LDF leadership. The criticism was also directed at the opposition leader, Pinarayi Vijayan. The CPI Anchalumoodu leadership meeting said under Pinarayi Vijayan’s tenure, the party functioned as a private company and blamed the same reason for the humiliating election defeat.

Using just Pinarayi Vijayan's poster during campaigning was deemed a setback. CPI state secretary Binoy Viswam also came under attack. A representative said Viswam had long before proven that he was a good-for-nothing leader. A woman member criticised the CPI leaders for giving importance to sharing power positions. The inclusion of an MLA's wife in the minister's staff was pointed out as proof for this. It was said that the move was made so that the family could live together in Thiruvananthapuram. The woman member said that all these appointments were made secretly.

There was also criticism over state secretariat members contesting the elections, which many said increased the impact of the defeat. The party lost the seat in Nadapuram because the wife of a state secretariat member was fielded there. The meeting was held in the presence of former ministers J Chinchu Rani, Honey Benjamin and R Vijayakumar.
