Thiruvananthapuram: Soldier swept away in Karamana river, search underway

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A soldier went missing after being swept away by strong currents at Kavadikadavu in Peyad, Thiruvananthapuram. The missing person has been identified as Sujith, a native of Kozhikode and a soldier stationed at the Pangode military camp.

Sujith had entered the Karamana River at Kavadikadavu for a bath along with four other soldiers. Another soldier who was caught in the current along with Sujith was rescued by the locals.

A scuba team is continuing the search operation for Sujith. The water flow in the area is very strong following heavy rainfall. Several accidents have reportedly occurred at the spot in the past as well.
