Lt Gen Raja Subramani is India's new Chief of Defence Staff; Krishna Swaminathan new chief of Naval Staff

NEW DELHI: Lt Gen N.S. Raja Subramani (Retd) is India’s next Joint Chiefs of Staff. Former Army Vice Chief Raja Subramani will thus replace General Anil Chauhan, whose term ends on May 30. Subramani is currently the Military Advisor to the National Security Council Secretariat (NSCS). Subramani retired from the Army on July 31 last year as the Vice Chief of Army Staff (VCOAS).

He also served as the General Officer Commanding-in-Chief of the Central Command during his 39 years of military service. He is a recipient of the Param Vishisht Seva Medal, Ati Vishisht Seva Medal, Sena Medal and Vishisht Seva Medal for distinguished service.

Vice Admiral Krishna Swaminathan has been appointed as the new Chief of the Indian Navy. He is currently serving as the Western Naval Commander. He will take over on May 31, when Admiral Dinesh Kumar Tripathi retires. Admiral Swaminathan, who has served as the commander of the aircraft carrier INS Vikramaditya, has also served as the commander of the guided missile destroyer INS Mysore, missile corvettes INS Kulish, INS Vidyut and INS Vinash.
