Man seeks euthanasia, submits complaint to Collector alleging harassment by wife
GANDHINAGAR: A man has submitted a complaint to the district collector seeking permission for euthanasia, claiming that he can no longer endure harassment from his wife. The complainant, Kirit Patel, a native of Surat in Gujarat, alleged that he has no other option and that his wife is misusing laws meant to protect women following domestic disputes.
According to Kirit, his wife deliberately starts arguments and then approaches the police or women's helpline, leading to legal action against him. He said these incidents have caused him severe mental distress. Kirit also alleged that his wife tried to harm his son from his first marriage.
In his complaint, he claimed that men do not receive adequate legal protection in family disputes and requested permission for euthanasia. He further warned that he may take extreme steps if no action is taken on his complaint.
The two got married on November 14, 2024. This is reportedly the third marriage for both of them. He also alleged that his wife, her mother, and other relatives have been continuously pressuring him for money and that he is no longer able to cope with the situation.
