'Power-hungry party stabbed DMK at first opportunity'; PM Modi lashes out at Congress
BENGALURU: Prime Minister Narendra Modi sharply criticised the Congress move to ditch DMK and join in alliance with actor Vijay's Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam in Tamil Nadu. PM Modi criticised the Congress for betraying DMK, mentioning that it was the Dravidian party that helped Congress in times of crisis for nearly thirty years. The Prime Minister said the Congress decision to switch allegiance came out of greed for power. PM Modi's criticism came after the Congress abandoned the DMK and supported the TVK and became part of the government in Tamil Nadu. The Prime Minister's response was at an event in Bengaluru.
“Power-hungry Congress stabbed DMK in the back at the first opportunity it got. Congress always needs another party to survive politically. The alliance with DMK had often saved them in times of crisis. In 2014, their government existed mainly because of the DMK.” Said PM Modi.
Meanwhile, the Prime Minister congratulated Vijay on being sworn in as the Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu. PM Modi assured that the Central Government will continue to work with Tamil Nadu to improve the quality of life of the people.
