Pulwama attack conspirator Hamza Burhan shot dead in PoK

NEW DELHI: Hamza Burhan, a designated terrorist and one of the key brains behind the devastating Pulwama terror attack, has been shot dead by unidentified gunmen in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK), National media reported on Thursday.

According to sources, the targeted killing took place in Muzaffarabad. Burhan, whose legal name is Arjumand Gulzar Dar, reportedly succumbed to multiple gunshot wounds at the scene.

Dar was officially designated as a terrorist by the Union Ministry of Home Affairs (MHA) in 2022 due to his involvement in cross-border terrorism and the 2019 Pulwama attack, which claimed the lives of 40 Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel.

Local authorities have tightened security in the area following the incident. As of now, no group has claimed responsibility for the assassination, and official details regarding the perpetrators or the motive remain thin.
