Groom found hanging dead on wedding day in Kannur

KANNUR: In a tragic incident, a groom was found hanging on the day of his wedding. The deceased has been identified as Shabin (28), a native of Mavilachal in Munderi, Kannur. He was serving as an officer with the SSB Border Police in Jammu and Kashmir. His wedding was scheduled to take place today.

A wedding reception had been held at Shabin’s house on Sunday night. Relatives said everyone left after midnight, following which Shabin received a phone call. He reportedly continued speaking on the phone while going into his room. Family members said the call was from the bride-to-be.

At around 4.45 am on Monday, family members went looking for him to leave for a pre-wedding photoshoot at Makreri temple. They then found him hanging inside the bathroom attached to his room. Shabin is survived by his parents, Bharathan and Sheeba, and his sister Abhisha, who works as a nurse at Sreechand Hospital in Kannur.
