THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: In a move likely to impact the retail market, liquor prices in Kerala are set to decrease starting this Tuesday. The Kerala State Beverages Corporation (BEVCO) has announced a price reduction ranging from ₹10 to ₹50 across various categories, including several high-demand brands.
Key highlights of price revision:
- Major Brands: Popular labels such as Old Monk, Officer's Choice, and Le Mount Rum are among those benefiting from the price cut.
- Price Brackets: While 500ml bottles will see a standard reduction of ₹10, other premium and mid-range brands have been slashed by ₹20, ₹30, and up to ₹50.
- Strategic Pricing: The revision notably includes brands that have recently seen a dip in sales figures.
According to BEVCO officials, the price adjustment follows specific directives from the manufacturing companies rather than a government-led tax revision. Necessary updates have already been integrated into the Corporation’s billing software, and all retail outlets have been formally notified to implement the new rates effective immediately from Tuesday morning.
