MAHE: As actor-turned-politician Vijay transitions from the silver screen to the Chief Minister’s office in Tamil Nadu, the coastal town of Mahe is celebrating a local hero of its own. Nayeem Moosa, a native of Peringadi, has emerged as the "Ilaya Thalapathy’s" most trusted shadow and long-time security confidant.

Moosa’s journey in the high-stakes world of private security began in 2000 with European Securities. Over two decades, he built an elite portfolio, providing protection for global heads of state and Bollywood icons including Amitabh Bachchan, Salman Khan, and Shah Rukh Khan. In 2004, he turned entrepreneur, co-founding Gentur Security with his brother, Najis Moosa.

The bond between the superstar and his bodyguard began in Dubai, where Gentur Security was tasked with managing Vijay’s detail. Impressed by Moosa’s professionalism and presence, Vijay inducted him into his inner circle. Since then, Moosa has been a constant fixture by the leader’s side.

During the gruelling election trail, Moosa became a viral sensation among fans. Social media footage frequently captured his alert presence—seamlessly intercepting heavy garlands flung from crowds and navigating the "Thalapathy" through sea-like gatherings with clinical precision.

With over 300,000 Instagram followers, Moosa has become a celebrity in his own right within the fandom. However, as Vijay assumes constitutional office, the protocol for his security will shift primarily to the State Police and specialised wings. While Gentur Security continues its operations in the Middle East, the specific nature of Moosa’s future role in the Chief Minister’s personal entourage remains a subject of much local interest in Mahe.
