BJP MLA’s bureaucrat son arrested while accepting Rs 40 lakh bribe from contractor

BENGALURU: The son of BJP MLA has been arrested while accepting bribe in Karnataka. Prashanth Kumar, son of Channagiri MLA Virupakshappa in Davangere district, was arrested by the Lokayukta. Virupakshappa is also the chairman of Karnataka Soaps and Detergents. Prashant Kumar is an IAS officer.

Prashant Kumar, Chief Accounts Officer of the Drinking Water Supply Division of the Bengaluru Corporation, was arrested while accepting a bribe of Rs 40 lakh from a contractor. The case is that he took bribe to award a contract for the manufacture of raw materials for making soap and detergent. Prashanth Kumar demanded Rs 81 lakh as bribe. The contractor then reported the matter to the Lokayukta. Lokayukta caught Prashanth with Rs 40 lakh in three bags.
