Moral policing murder case: Five accused arrested

CHERPU: Police have arrested five persons in connection with the death of Chirakkal native Sahar (32), a private bus driver who was attacked by moral policing goons. While four accused were nabbed from Uttarakhand, one was nabbed from Thrissur Railway Station.

The arrested persons are Cherpu natives Arun, Ameer, Niranjan, Suhail and Dinon. The special investigation team consisting of Vadanappally SI K Ajith, ASI TR Shine and Senior CPO Sonny Xavier nabbed the accused from Uttarakhand with the help of the task force of Uttarakhand. The accused were trying to enter Nepal by bus when the investigation team nabbed them. They were immediately produced in court and brought back to Kerala after obtaining a transit warrant. Dinon, one of the main accused, was arrested the other day when he reached Thrissur by train from Kottayam.

Sahar was brutally beaten by the accused at midnight on February 18. He died while undergoing treatment in the hospital. Sahar was the driver of a private bus operating service on the Thrissur-Triprayar route. He was dragged from the house of his female friend, the wife of an expat.
