IMD predicts heavy rain in two districts in Kerala on Saturday and Sunday

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The Indian Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted rain with thunder and lightning in isolated places in the state on Saturday, Sunday and Wednesday. According to the IMD, there is a possibility of thundershowers at isolated places in Kollam, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam, Idukki, Ernakulam, Thrissur and Palakkad districts and wind gusting up to 40 kmph.


A yellow alert has been announced in Pathanamthitta and Idukki today and tomorrow. Here, isolated heavy rain is forecast. Heavy rains mean rainfall will range from 64.5 mm to 115.5 mm in 24 hours.

Meanwhile, the IMD has informed that fishing is allowed in the Kerala, Karnataka and Lakshadweep coasts. The Indian National Centre for Ocean Information Services (INCOIS) has informed that there is a possibility of 0.5 to 1 metre high waves and violent seas along the Kerala coast till 11.30 tonight.

Fishermen and coastal residents exercise caution

1. As the seas are likely to rough, stay away from the danger areas as per the instructions of the authorities.

2. Keep fishing vessels (boats, boats, etc.) safely moored in the harbour. Keeping a safe distance between boats can avoid the possibility of collision. The safety of fishing equipment should be ensured.

3. Avoid trips to the beach.
