Woman doctor stabbed by school teacher in Kottarakkara taluk hospital, dies

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A woman doctor of Kottarakkara taluk hospital who was undergoing treatment after stabbed by a youth, has succumbed to her injuries. She has been identified as Vandana Das (23) of Kottayam and a house surgeon. The accused has been identified as Sandeep (42), a school teacher of Nedumbana UP School and a native of Pooyappally. The incident happened early Wednesday morning.

A fight broke out between the accused and his brother last night. Sandeep himself informed the police saying that his brother attacked him. Sandeep sustained injuries in his leg. The police after understanding that Sandeep was behind the attack, took him into custody.

Sandeep was brought to Kottarakkara Taluk Hospital for a medical examination and to dress his wounds. He carried the attack then. Vandana sustained six stab injuries on her body. Though she was rushed to a private hospital in Thiruvananthapuram, her life could not be saved.

Sandeep took the hospital scissors and stabbed people who were there. Four including cops Alex, Baby Mohan, Manilal and Sandeep’s relative Binu sustained injuries. The Indian Medical Examination (IMA) informed that a state-wide protest would be staged against the incident.

Sandeep is an accused in a drug case. He was suspended after he was addicted to drugs.
