D K Shivakumar cancels Delhi trip citing ill health; decisive meeting happening at Kharge's house
BENGALURU: As the tussle over the Karnataka chief ministership brews up in the capital Bengaluru, D K Shivakumar who was supposed to fly to Delhi canceled his trip in the last minutes. Shivakumar had a meeting fixed with Congress's high command but wiggled out from the decision citing his ill health.
Shivakumar earlier boasted about having the support of 135 MLAs who want him to become the new CM of Karnataka. The KPCC chief also remarked on his promise kept to Sonia Gandhi to make Congress rise back to power in the state.
Senior leader Siddaramaiah who is equally eyeing the CM throne has reached Delhi today. According to reports, a confidential meeting is happening inside Congress President Kharge’s house. AICC general secretary K C Venugopal and Randeep Singh Surjewala are among the top congress leaders who were asked to report for the meeting to discuss the CM in Karnataka.
