Wrestlers suspend protest, govt assures that charge sheet will be filed within 15 days in cases against Brij Bhushan; decision taken in discussion with Anurag Thakur
NEW DELHI: The protesting wrestlers have decided to suspend the ongoing strike after they received an assurance from the Centre on Wednesday. The decision was taken after the wrestlers held talks with Union Minister Anurag Thakur. The wrestlers said that the central government has assured to conduct a probe into the sexual harassment complaints against Wrestling Federation of India (WFI) president Brij Bhushan and submit the chargesheet in the cases by June 15. The cases against the players will also be withdrawn.
The wreslters had demanded that free and fair elections be held for wrestling federation and that a woman be appointed as the president. They also demanded that Brij Bhushan or his family should not be part of WFI. The minister had tweeted last night that the government was ready to discuss the issues of wrestlers. The meeting was held in this situation.
