Sree Narayana Gurudevan is our guru: CM Vijayan
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan said that though there are many Gurus in the country, Sree Narayana Gurudevan is the only one for us. He was inaugurating the Jayanhti Maha Sammelanam at Chempazhanthy Gurukulam on the occasion of 169th Gurudeva Jayanthi.
"Words of the Guru cannot be erased by time. The history of Kerala does not exist apart from the history of Sree Narayanaguru. Gurudevan is the great man who declared one caste and one religion through the humanistic approach that everything is one."
"He led Kerala, which was in darkness, to light. Humanity was given to the oppressed. Life was uneven for the vast majority. Guru changed that."
"This is a time when religious hatred and genocide continue in many parts of the country. Caste attacks are happening. Women are raped and stripped naked. Behind the fact that this did not happen in Kerala are the progressive thoughts of the renaissance leaders including Sree Narayana Gurudevan and the interventions of the progressive political movements that followed them."
"Scientific sense and logical thinking are challenged. Human sacrifice and superstitious political attacks take place in India, a nation that sent spacecraft to the Moon. The theory of evolution is left out of the textbook to cover unscientific material. Some are trying to bring back what Gurudevan changed a hundred years ago. Such people can survive only if untouchability and immorality exist. We should defeat them.", the CM said.
The Chief Minister released the English book 'What We Are All About' written by Sree Narayana Dharma Sangam Trust Board Member Swami Sookshmanananda. Kadakampally Surendran MLA presided the function.
