Route map of person confirmed with Nipah is being prepared, even if result turns negative, should remain in isolation for 21 days

KOZHIKODE: Health Minister Veena George said the one who came in direct contact with the person who died of Nipah, was confirmed of the disease. A native of Cheruvannur coming under Kozhikode Corporation was diagnosed with the disease.


Veena George said the patient's route map is being prepared and the number of people in the contact list will rise. The minister said this while talking to the media after the Nipah review meeting. Ministers A K Saseendran, Mohammad Riyas and Ahmed Devarkovil were also present. The person who came to the hospital with the patient, was diagnosed with the disease. The minister said that he was in the hospital when the person undergoing treatment for Nipah, died on August 30.


Arrangements to conduct more Nipah tests will be arranged. The minister said tests will be done in the district itself. Even the mobile location will be used to prepare the contact list. The collector will lead the Nipah prevention activities in the district. Even if the result is negative, 21 days in isolation has been made mandatory. Tests will be conducted even after that.


The minister said that trying to chase the bats increases the risk of accidents. Veena George asked those who visited the same hospital while the dead was under treatment, to contact the call centre. Meantime, Minister P K Muhammad Riyas said that strict action will be taken against fake news. Forest Minister A K Saseendran said the charge has been handed over to Dr Arun Zacharia to find the real cause of death of the wild boar in Janaki Forest.
