Digital resurvey: Directorate forwards draft recommendation
THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: After the digital resurvey was completed, the survey directorate forwarded the draft recommendation to the government to levy land tax according to the area of land to be surveyed. The final form will be given after a detailed examination. After implementation, the land owner can pay the actual area of the property in possession.
At present, according to the records, if a survey of a land owner's land with 10 cents is found to be 13 cents, tax for only 10 cents can be paid. Ownership of the remaining three cents will remain uncertain. But if 8 cents is found during the survey of the same property, then the same is charged. Many village offices do not charge due to area differences. Due to this, the owners are not able to pledge or transfer the property. Land transfer, partition and registration are based on the information recorded in the documents.
Digital Reserve aims to implement a single-window online system by integrating the land-related services of the Survey, Revenue and Registration Departments. The new directive will also help to end such practices.
The Director of Survey and Land Survey Department issued an order to set a daily target for the staff conducting field surveys using RTK rover (real-time kinematics) to complete the digital reserve on time. The target has been divided into four categories based on topography, climate, abundance of buildings and other constructions of the districts of the state. An RTK rover machine is operated by a team consisting of a surveyor and a helper. They have to find the boundary and area of the land. 1500 RTK machines are in use.
