Gaganyaan awaits women travelers

SRIHARIKOTTA: ISRO Chairman Dr S Somnath has announced that women fighter test pilots and scientists will be given priority in the Gaganyaan project. During the experimental phases of the Gaganyaan project, a female humanoid robot will be sent aboard an unmanned spacecraft next year.

The goal of Gaganyaan is to take tourists into low Earth orbit about 400 km above the Earth's surface for three days and then bring them back safely. ISRO is eagerly awaiting capable female travellers for this mission. Dr Somnath shared this new information about the project after the successful launch of the TV-D1 test vehicle, a significant step toward Gaganyaan.
