Malayali youth and live-in partner immolate themselves in apartment in Bengaluru

BENGALURU: A Malayali youth and a Bengali woman were found charred to death in their apartment in Bengaluru. The two identified as Abil Abraham (29) of Idukki and Soumini Das (20) of Kolkata, immolated themselves at their apartment in Kothanur Doddagubbi in Bengaluru. The incident came to light on Sunday. Soumini died on the spot and Abil died in the hospital.

Both started staying together three days ago. Soumini, who is married is a second-year student of a private nursing college in Marathahalli. She had reportedly told her husband that she was unable to live with him as he wouldn’t allow her to lead an independent life. She had also told him about her live-in partner and expressed her wish to spend her life with him.

Abil, owner of a nursing recruitment agency, was a bachelor. The bodies have been shifted to the mortuary of Victoria Hospital for post-mortem. The Kothanur police have registered a case.

The Kothannur police registered a case of unnatural death in the incident. The police said that no suicide note was found. The investigating officers clarified that the mobile phones of both are being examined. ​​​​​​​
