Keraleeyam sponsorship controversy: V D Satheesan raising false allegations, says V Sivankutty

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Minister V Sivankutty on Thursday said that Opposition Leader VD Satheesan was raising false allegations regarding the Keraleeyam sponsorship controversy. V Sivankutty, who was also the chairman of the organizing committee, said that Satheesan was levelling false allegations after he got frightened by the public support received by the Keraleeyam event.

"As the chairman of the organizing committee of Keraleeyam, things, including sponsorship, took place with my knowledge. I am challenging Satheesan to point out if there is at least one complaint regarding those matters," Sivankutty said.

"Since it was a government-sponsored event, the officials were the conveners and people's representatives were chairpersons. This committee information is already in the public domain. VD Satheesan, who remained silent at that time, is now raising baseless allegations in a situation where there are no complaints to raise. People won't believe it. The opposition, which has lost public support by raising unnecessary allegations, is now trying to save its face. The government will reject the allegations and move ahead and make Keraleeyam 2024 a huge success," Sivankutty added.
