SFI's brutal ragging: First-year student's private parts crushed, suffers serious injury

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: A complaint has reached police saying a student was badly beaten up in an incident of ragging at Neyyattinkara Polytechnic, Thiruvananthapuram. As per the complaint, on November 14, a first-year student was brutally beaten by twenty senior students. The violence took place in the classroom.

Anoop, a student of the instrumentation department, suffered this horrific ordeal from his seniors. According to the complaint, the assailants kicked Anoop's private parts and punched him in the abdomen. After the incident, Anoop was first shifted to Neyyattinkara General Hospital and from there to the Ayurveda Treatment Center.

Police have registered a case on the complaint of the student's parents. Students Abin, Adityan, Anandu and Kiran who were involved in the ragging episode were expelled from the institution. Another 20 students who are recognizable have also been added to the accused list.

The college principal has also filed a case with the police, but however, no action has been taken yet. It is alleged that all the involved students are members of SFI and the parents of Anoop also received threatening calls asking to withdraw the case.
