PARAVOOR: Ann Rifta often played angel in her father Roy Georgekutty's stamping dramas. Ann did great in her studies and was the lead singer in her church choir group. She was fondly called 'Nunumol' by her relatives and was known by that name in her hometown of Gothuruth. However now, her village is observing grief and nobody has been able to digest the news coming out from late Saturday night regarding the CUSAT stampede.

Ann, a second-year electronics student last visited her house in Kurumbathuruth a week back. When she returned back to the college, she took her scooter along, and that too for the first time. She promised to return home after the music event, but nobody thought that their beloved Ann would return in a coffin. The relatives and locals had a hard time comforting Ann’s father Roy and brother Rithul.

Roy works as a mason while Rithul is a frequenter in stamping drama but also works part-time with a private travel agency. Ann’s mother Sindhu flew to Italy almost one year ago to work as a home nurse and help her family overcome the financial burden. On Monday noon, Ann’s mortal remains will be brought for public viewing at her home. Sindhu will return from Italy by Monday afternoon at 1 pm to have a final glimpse at her daughter. The burial will take place at St. Joseph's Church, Kurumbathuruth.
