PALAKKAD: Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan criticized the Congress which suffered a heavy blow in the elections in three states. He said the election defeat is a setback to the Congress's style of taking over everything alone, without keeping even like-minded parties together. He was speaking at a public meeting of Nava Kerala Sadas in Chittoor of Palakkad.

Congress should be prepared to learn from this setback. The reason for Congress’ defeat is that they thought they could directly defeat radical Hinduism from being part of soft Hindutva. This is what happened in Rajasthan and Madhya Pradesh. The chief minister said the results show that in Madhya Pradesh, the stances of many including Congress leader Kamal Nath, benefited the BJP in the elections.

The Congress had taken the stand that they can only face the BJP and will do it alone. It has proved wrong again and again. When preparing to face a party like BJP in elections, we should be able to keep all like-minded people with us. The chief minister said the congress should try to learn a lesson from the present experience.
