KSRTC's innovative venture in Wayanad gains wide acceptance; Potential to clear debts if expanded across districts
SULTAN BATHERI: KSRTC has successfully repurposed unused buses into revenue-generating ventures at Sultan Bathery depot. The district depot managed by the Scheduled Tribes Development Department unveiled a unique bus restaurant project providing essential meals to bus passengers.
This initiative aimed at revitalizing defunct buses has proven beneficial for travelers arriving at the depot. The bus restaurant offers a variety of meals ranging from tea, lunch, biryani to dinner catering to the needs of the passengers. With an investment of 8 lakh rupees, the project transformed a dormant bus into a functional restaurant providing employment to five individuals. Currently serving lunch and dinner, the team aims to expand its services to include breakfast.
Moreover, in a bid to enhance passenger experience, the depot also offers AC room accommodations within sleeper buses. Launched in 2022, this facility provides lodging for up to 64 people. Pricing is set at Rs 160 per person for a bed and Rs 1000 for a family room accommodating three people. Sleeper bus accommodations are available from 5 pm to 9.30 am.
