NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended greetings to the North Eastern states celebrating the anniversary of state formation. Apart from Manipur, Modi conveyed greetings to the people of Meghalaya and Tripura through X.

“On Manipur’s Statehood Day, my best wishes to the people of the state. Manipur has made a strong contribution to India’s progress. We take pride in the culture and traditions of the state. I pray for the continued development of Manipur.” Modi wrote on X.

PM Modi’s greetings to Manipur may look jarring, only for the fact that the state is still grappling with ethnic riots between Kuki-Meitei tribes. Congress and other opposition allies have scoffed at PM Modi’s Manipur mention in social media platform X. Many threw brickbats at the PM for not addressing the Manipur issue during the height of ethnic tension in the state but pointed the Prime Minister’s shrewd appeasing tactic minding the upcoming elections.

PM Modi also congratulated the people of Meghalaya on State Formation Day.
