Black flag against Governor: bail for SFI members
KOLLAM: The Kottarakkara Judicial Magistrate Court granted bail to 12 SFI workers, including two girls, who were remanded in the case of waving black flag at the Governor in Nilamel. Two girls who were in Attakulangara Women's Jail and others who were in Kottarakkara Sub Jail were released yesterday evening. Carrying them on their shoulders, the SFI workers held a demonstration at Kottarakkara.
Apart from obstructing the governor's journey, the police also charged them with attempted assault. The lawyer appearing for the SFI workers argued that they did not try to attack the governor. Bail was granted after the camera footage was also produced in the court.
SFI workers waved black flag at the Governor in Nilamel last Saturday when he was going to attend a function at Kottarakkara Sadananda Ashram. Following this the governor got out of the car and protested by sitting on a chair on the roadside for two hours. The Governor returned after cheching the copy of the FIR registered against the SFI workers who were detained from the spot.
