BENGALURU: Karnataka says Belur Makhana, a rogue elephant that killed a man in a residential area in Wayanad, will be chased into the inner forest. The Karnataka Forest Department has also assured that it will prevent elephants from coming to Kerala. Wayanad Special Officer K Vijayanand will hold the post of Kerala's Nodal Officer in the Integration Committee. The elephant is currently in the Karnataka forest, three kilometers away from Kerala. The forest department officials are monitoring the signal received from the elephant's radio collar.

After Belur Makhana killed an individual named Ajeesh in Mananthavady, people took to the streets and protested, following which the government issued an order to capture the elephant by tranquilizing it. However, the efforts to capture the elephant didn't yield any results. Meanwhile, the elephant headed toward the Karnataka border.

On November 30, the Karnataka Forest Department attached a radio collar and released Belur Makhana into the Molahalli forest. The elephant was spotted near the Kuruva Islands and trampled Ajeesh to death.
