Professor stabbed at Kozhikode NIT; accused taken into custody

KOZHIKODE: A professor has been stabbed at Kozhikode NIT campus. The incident took place at around 12 pm today. Professor Jayachandran of the Civil Engineering Department was stabbed by Salem native Vinod. The Kunnamangalam police have taken Vinod into custody.

The professor was attacked near the library on the NIT campus. Jayachandran has been admitted to the KMCT Hospital. It is said that his condition is not serious.

Meanwhile, the accused is telling contradictory things to the police. He initially told the police that both of them were classmates at IIT Delhi. The police are interrogating him further. The police are investigating the reason for the attack and why the accused arrived at the NIT campus.
