KALPETTA: In a new development, the magistrate asked one CPM leader to leave the room after he was seen accompanying former SFI workers accused in the murder case at Wayanad Pookode Veterinary University.

The incident took place when the six arrested persons were being produced on Wednesday. The court staff first barred the leader who stormed to the magistrate’s chamber, but the leader unmoved by the warning decided to go ahead. The leader even shouted at the staff and also charged against the police. However, the magistrate intervened in the issue and asked the leader to leave the room. Two CPM leaders accompanied the accused when produced before the magistrate.

After banning 19 students for three years in the case, the college anti-ragging committee took action against more students. 10 students were banned from the college for one year. They will not be able to participate in the class and write the exam. It is doubted that all the suspended are students who physically tortured Siddharth at the command of the accused. The other two were barred from appearing for the internal examination for a year. The action was taken for the cold-hearted approach shown by some students who failed to take Siddharth to the hospital despite witnessing his grave situation. All these 12 students were expelled from the hostel.
