Death of JS Siddharth from Pookode Veterinary University: Public trial and brutal thrashing happened says anti-ragging squad report

KELPETTA: A critical report of the anti-ragging squad has come out on the death of JS Siddharth, second-year student of Pookode Veterinary University.

The report points out serious lapses against the Dean and the Assistant Warden. According to the report submitted to the UGC, the statements of the students were taken by the police in the presence of the college authorities and therefore they could not reveal many things. According to the report, names of many people who is said to have assaulted Siddharth are not included in the police charge sheet.

A public trial was held in the university. Siddharth had to receive brutal torture from the accused.

18 people beat up Siddharth at different places. He was paraded around the campus in only his underwear. The report also states that he was beaten in the center of the university and on top of the nearby hill. The report also states that accused Sijo John brutally beat him. Anti-ragging squad prepared the report by taking the statements of 97 people. The accused are SFI workers. The family is raising the allegation that some of the accused are being protected deliberately.
