First campaign period in Chalakudy without 'Innocent' laughter

CHALAKUDY: Today (March 26) marks the first death anniversary of actor and former Chalakudy MP Innocent. The people of Chalakudy cannot easily forget Innocent's election campaigns. Innocent always tried to make the people laugh and think while seeking votes. He used to explain the development vision of the country to them simply and pleasantly.

He quickly garnered the attention of women and youngsters through his witty yet insightful speeches. Hundreds of people, including women, used to gather around him when Innocent visited villages asking for votes. Innocent's stories and experiences wrapped in humour entertained the crowds. Voters will start laughing even before he begins his speech. The laugh will last until he drops the mic. In 2014, he went to the Lok Sabha after defeating PC Chacko. However, he was defeated by Benny Behanan in 2019.

A cultural gathering has been organised today evening at the SNBS Samajam Sree Narayana Hall in Irinjalakuda on the occasion of Innocent's first death anniversary. Innocent's wife Alice will inaugurate the function by lighting the lamp. Minister R Bindu will preside over the function. Several prominent figures such as Sathyan Anthikkad, Kamal, VK Sreeraman, Ashokan Charuvil, Siby K Thomas, Premlal, Gayathri Varsha and Siji Pradeep will attend the cultural gathering 'Ormakalil Innocent'.
