KOCHI: Jayaprakash, father of Pookode Veterinary University student Siddharth, has approached the High Court against the delay in the CBI investigation into the death of his son. In his plea, he also alleges that there was a deliberate attempt by the government to sabotage the CBI investigation. The High Court will hear the plea on Friday.

Siddharth's father also expressed concern that the accused who are currently in jail will get bail if the investigation is delayed. "Once they are released, they are likely to destroy the evidence. If it goes this way the CBI won't get any piece of evidence. Therefore, the government is making a conscious effort to delay the investigation", Jayaprakash said in his plea and added that this is why he is approaching the High Court.

A report had earlier surfaced that the statement given by the hostel occupants to the anti-ragging squad regarding Siddharth's death was mysterious. According to the statements, the hostel inmates had gone to a movie in Bathery and Kalpetta on the day Siddharth was found hanging in the washroom of the hostel, and a few had gone to watch festivals in Thalassery and Kannur. In the context of allegations that Siddharth's death was a murder, there is a suspicion that this was done deliberately to keep the people in the hostel away.
