THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The police said the three Malayalees, who committed suicide at a hotel room in Arunachal Pradesh, were victims of strange beliefs. They ended their lives in the name of their desire to be born and live in another planet before the flood destroys the earth. The police said Naveen himself conveyed this thought to the other two.

The police also got evidence for Naveen making arrangements for mountain climbing. Floods will come one day and destroy the world. Naveen's belief was that life could be saved only by living in a high area. Naveen used to tell his friends that there is another world where none of these difficulties exist and he wants to be reborn there.

Naveen and his wife Devi Madhav had gone to Arunachal's East Kameng one and a half years ago. They also visited Buddhist temples there. Naveen also talked with the locals about life atop the mountain. On his return, Naveen bought clothes, weapons, tent and utensils online for the mountaineering. Police recovered all this from Naveen's car.

Police said the three reached Arunachal with the thought of ending their lives for rebirth beyond the life on the mountain. Naveen had shared his thoughts with some of his close friends. However, Naveen's wife Devi also believed this. The police conclude that this idea came to Arya through her friend Devi.

The police are investigating who told Naveen these things and whether there is anyone else behind the e-mail message. The police had the other day conducted a detailed inspection at the houses of the three dead. The police registered the statements of relatives.

The meeting of the investigation team led by DCP Nithin Raj examined these things. The investigation team will seek the help of psychiatrists to examine the four-year life history of the three.
