Bobby Chemmanur organizes tea challenge to raise funds to save Abdul Rahim facing death penalty in Saudi Arabia

KOCHI: Businessman Bobby Chemmanur has organized a Boche Tea Lucky Draw ticket challenge on April 15 to raise deliverance money to save Abdul Rahim, a native of Kozhikode Feroke, who was sentenced to death in Saudi Arabia. He said in a press conference that Rs 18 crores were collected during the journey seeking donations.

If Rs 34 crore is paid before April 16, Abdul Rahim can avoid death penalty. The tea challenge is being organized due to insufficient funds. On the April 15, the entire amount received from the online sale of Boche Tea will be given to the account of Abdul Rahim Legal Assistance Committee Trust. Rs 10 lakh will be awarded per day and other prizes will be given to one person who buys tea worth Rs 40 from April 15. Rs 25 crores will be awarded to one person in the bumper draw. The fundraising procession started in Thiruvananthapuram and entered Thrissur after leaving Kochi yesterday. The Boche Fans Association conducts the Yatra using QR code which can be scanned to sent money directly into the account. The amount received will be transferred on April 15 through the embassy. The death penalty was awarded to Abdul Rahim following the death of a differently-abled boy who was in the car driven by him.
