ED officials begin interrogation of Sasidharan Kartha at his residence after he fails to appear for questioning

KOCHI: ED is questioning CMRL MD Sasidharan Kartha in the monthly payoff case involving Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan's daughter Veena Vijayan. The ED officials reached Kartha's house in Aluva for the interrogation. The interrogation is done after preparing a special questionnaire.

Sasidharan Kartha was asked to appear for questioning on Tuesday but he did not appear citing health reasons. The officers came to his house and questioned him after this.

The questioning is regarding CMRL's mysterious money transaction with Veena Vijayan's company. By recording the statement of Kartha, the ED is trying to find out the financial details of CMRL.

The ED had asked Sasidharan Kartha twice before to appear for questioning. The other day, three officials of CMRL, including a woman, were summoned to the office of the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in Kochi for recording statement. They were interrogated for more than 24 hours.

CMRL chief financial officer KS Suresh Kumar, senior manager NC Chandrasekaran and senior officer Anju Rachel Kuruvila, who were present around 11 am on Monday, were let off after 11.30 am on Tuesday.
