Colour of Doordarshan logo changed to saffron

NEW DELHI: The central government has changed the colour of the logo of the Hindi and English channels of Doordarshan. Tuesday marked the debut of the new logo. Saffron is the colour used for the new logo design.

The colour change of the logo comes at a time when the opposition is accusing the Doordarshan of broadcasting news and programs in favour of the ruling party. The new colour change of the logo has also raised a lot of criticism from various corners.

Earlier, Doordarshan had courted a controversy in connection with the telecast of an interview between Narendra Modi and Microsoft founder Bill Gates. Prasar Bharati was denied permission to air the interview due to protests alleging that it would be a violation of the Moral Code of Conduct. The Election Commission unofficially informed that Prasar Bharati did not have permission to telecast the interview.
