'Country in shock': Former classmate fatally stabs congress councillor's daughter to death in Karnataka

BENGALURU: In a frightening incident, a congress corporator’s daughter in Karnataka was brutally stabbed to death inside her college campus by another youth for rejecting his love proposal. The atrocity that shocked the nation took place at B V Bhoomaraddi College of Engineering and Technology, Hubballi in Karnataka at around 5 pm on Thursday.

Congress councillor Niranjan Hiremath's daughter Neha (23), a first-year MCA student died after being attacked by her former classmate Fayaz, who hails from Belagavi, Bengaluru. According to police, Fayaz has been pestering Neha to enter into a relationship, which the latter has been denying for a long. This forced Fayaz to wait outside the campus on Thursday and deliver his last love request.

However, the assailant was well prepared to counter a rejection. In the shocking CCTV video, it is seen how Neha is moving backwards in fear of an attack from Fayaz. The assailant then takes down Neha on the ground and repeatedly stabs her neck, much to the shock of other students. Fayaz then fled the scene while other students helped Neha reach the hospital. According to police, the assailant stabbed seven times on Neha’s neck which resulted in the murder.

The police are currently speeding up the investigation after the incident ignited protests all across the nation. Meanwhile, ABVP workers, pro-Hindu organizations and BJP workers staged a protest against the student's murder.
