NEW DELHI: Greeshma, the accused who murdered Sharone Raj of Parassala by lacing poison in an ayurvedic medicine, suffered a severe setback from the Supreme Court. The apex court rejected her plea seeking quashing of the final report in the case. A bench led by Justice Vikramnath rejected her plea. Advocate Sreeram Parakkat filed the plea for Greeshma.

The plea said crime branch DySP submitted the final report in the case beyond jurisdiction. Greeshma claimed that the legal authority is for the station house officer. However, the Supreme Court found that this argument will not exist. Greeshma and her relatives had earlier approached the high court seeking cancellation of the final investigation report and further proceedings in the case. They approached the Supreme Court after the high court rejected it. Greeshma and her co-accused mother Sindhu and uncle Nirmala Kumaran Nair filed an appeal in the high court after the Neyyattinkara Additional Sessions Court rejected the plea.

Greeshma of Tamil Nadu, the first accused in the case, invited Sharone home and then gave him juice laced with pesticide on October 14, 2022. Sharon, who was in critical condition, died while undergoing treatment in Thiruvananthapuram Medical College Hospital. All three accused in the case had denied the crime.
