Floods devastate China's Guangdong province: 3 dead, 11 missing, 60,000 evacuated

BEIJING: Heavy rains in China's Guangdong province triggered widespread flooding, resulting in 3 deaths and 11 people reported missing. Approximately 60,000 people were evacuated as rivers overflowed, exacerbating the situation in the provincial capital Guangzhou, as well as the towns of Shaoguan and Heyuan.

On Saturday, 1.16 million households lost electricity, with 80% of them restored by yesterday. Guangzhou International Airport experienced flight cancellations. Guangdong, a densely populated low-lying region near the Pearl River delta, is home to 127 million people.
