High intensity steel bombs recovered in Kannur on the finale of election campaign for Lok Sabha polls

KANNUR: Nine high intensity steel bombs were recovered from Kolari in Mattannur. The bombs were seized in Kannur at a time when jamboree (Kottikalasham) marking the end of the election campaign will be held today.


The steel bombs were found kept in two buckets in a land belonging to a private person. After receiving information, the bomb squad reached the spot and defused them. There were extensive searches across the state after the bomb blast in Panoor. High intensity steel bombs were found in the buckets in between this. A woman who went to cut grass in the field noticed the bombs.

On being informed, the police and the bomb squad reached the spot. The police registered a case and started investigation. The bombs were found near the library run by the Sangh Parivar. Therefore, the CPM said RSS is behind it and so demanded a comprehensive investigation on it.

Kerala will go to the polls on April 26. The parties will wrap up the two-month long electioneering today. Main roads and centers will be filled with election campaign vehicles till 6 pm and after that there will be a silent campaign.
