KOCHI: The High Court on Thursday will consider the anticipatory bail plea filed by dancer Sathyabhama, accused of making casteist remarks against RLV Ramakrishnan. Ramakrishnan and the police will file their counter affidavits in the High Court today. The Nedumangad Sessions Court had earlier rejected Sathyabhama's anticipatory bail plea.

Sathyabhama filed a plea in the High Court demanding the withdrawal of this order and the granting of bail. Sathyabhama's contention in the bail application is that the trial court's order is without examining the facts and that she can cooperate with the investigation and accept any option. Satyabhama's request to stop the arrest was also rejected by the High Court.

Launching a vile attack at male dancers in a YouTube interview, Sathyabhama said that only exceptionally handsome men look good while performing Mohiniyattam which is meant for mohinis (women). "Some of the performers' complexions are dark as a crow, and even their own mothers would not want to look at them,” she said. It was after this that Ramakrishnan came forward and clarified that Sathyabhama's accusation was against him.

Despite the controversy, Sathyabhama refused to withdraw the allegation. "It won't be good if Mohanan plays Mohiniyattam. Beauty is essential to play Mohiniyattam. Colour is important in beauty. If not, has any black child won first place in a beauty pageant?," Sathyabhama asked. Sathyabhama's response was that he would stick to her opinion no matter what.
