ITANAGAR: Massive landslides hit border districts of Arunachal Pradesh between Hunli and Anini thereby washing away major portions of National Highway 313. With the collapse of the national highway, road connectivity to Dibang district, which shares the border with China, has been disrupted. Road traffic is completely blocked in the area.

Officials clarified that there is currently no shortage of food and other essential items in the Dibang Valley. Arunachal Chief Minister Pema Khandu said there was widespread damage on the national highway between Hunli and Anini.

"Disturbed to learn the inconvenience being caused to commuters due to the extensive damage to the highway between Hunli and Anini. Instructions have been issued to restore the connectivity at the earliest as this road connects Dibang Valley to the rest of the country," said Chief Minister Pema Khandu in a social media post.

Last August, there was a similar landslide in Kullu. Footage of high-rise buildings collapsing was released. Many people died in the rain. Heavy rains for days caused the landslide. Hundreds of vehicles were stuck in the Kullu-Mandi area. Many roads were damaged that day.
