Dredger scam: SC asks state govt to conclude probe by June 30

NEW DELHI: The Supreme Court has directed the state governemnt to conclude the vigilance investigation against former DGP Jacob Thomas in the controversial dredger deal by June 30 and not to extend the time. The matter will be considered on July 15. Before that the inquiry report should be submitted in a sealed envelope. The state government informed the court that it has given a letter to the central government regarding questioning the officials of the Dutch company involved in the case ans are waiting for the reply. After this, the court directed the state to inform the Centre about the ultimatum to complete the investigation.

Jacob Thomas' lawyer responded that even after three and a half years, no evidence has been found. The petitions filed by public activist Sathyan Naravoor are before the court. The Vigilance case alleges that dredger deal was reached after bypassing the technical committee while Jacob Thomas was port director.
