NEW DELHI: Delhi Chief Minister Arvind Kejriwal, who was in ED custody in the liquor policy case, was released from jail after 50 days of his arrest. He greeted the activists who were waiting for his return outside the Tihar Jail chanting slogans.

“It feels good to be amongst you all. I had promised to come back soon and here I am,” Kejriwal told jubilant AAP supporters outside the jail.

He said that the people of the country should unite and fight against the dictatorship and thanked the Supreme Court for granting him bail. Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwand Mann was also present in front of gate number 4 of the jail to receive Kejriwal.

Arvind Kejriwal, who was released from jail, has called a press conference at the party office at 1 pm on Saturday. Kejriwal's speech at the press conference will have a great political significance as the crucial stages of the elections are near. Kejriwal's wife Sunita and AAP leaders also came to receive Kejriwal in front of the jail.

The Supreme Court had earlier indicated that Kejriwal would be granted interim bail as part of the Lok Sabha election campaign. The Enforcement Directorate (ED) strongly opposed the granting of bail. He has been granted bail till June 1. The order was passed by Justices Sanjeev Khanna and Dipankar. Kejriwal's bail has come as a relief to the Aam Aadmi Party and the INDIA bloc as the Lok Sabha elections are around the corner in Delhi.
