Man sentenced to life for murdering sister with garden hoe

MAVELIKKARA: A man got life imprisonment for killing his sister with a garden hoe. The deceased Girija (47) was hit on her head by Manikuttan, the convict, in October 2019. The sentence was pronounced by Mavelikara District Additional Sessions Court Judge SS Seena. The second accused Krishna was found not guilty and released.

A dispute over their family house in Haripad's Vathalur resulted in the murder. After the altercation, an angry Manikuttan attacked his sister with a hoe. Girija died while undergoing treatment at Alappuzha Medical College. Haripad CI Biju V Nair filed the charge sheet in the case. K Sajikumar appeared for the prosecution.
