Incident where patient attacked doctor in Kozhikode; Police registers case

KOZHIKODE: Police registered a case against the man who attacked the doctor in Kodenchery Hospital. A case has been registered against Ramju, a native of Kodenchery. Doctor Sushmit of Holy Cross Hospital in Kodenchery was attacked. The incident happened at midnight yesterday. The complaint says that the doctor was beaten and verbally abused. CCTV footage of the incident was released. In the video, the patient can be seen swearing at the doctor and then assaulting him.

The person who attacked the doctor was a patient who was injured in a car accident and came to the hospital. The hospital authorities say that the accused was excessively drunk. He attacked alleging that he did not receive adequate treatment. There were also reports that the patient misbehaved with another female doctor.

He was kicked out by security and staff when he raised a ruckus in the hospital but he waited outside, picked up a stone and tried to hit the doctor on the head. The doctor pushed him away and escaped.

'When he tried to hit me on the head with a stone, I pushed him away in self-defence. He even threatened to burn my family down. Will proceed with legal action,'- Dr. Sushmit told the media.
