Vande Metro on track with world-class facilities; runs at speed of 130 kmph

CHENNAI: Reports said Vande Metro will be on tracks soon. Officials said that the trial run of Vande Metro will be in the last week of June or early July. This new generation train will run at a speed of 110 to 130 km per hour. The reports also said that the first train will be operated from Chennai to Tirupati and the routes to be operated after that have been decided. However, there is no confirmation in this regard.

The 12-coach metro train will be a modified hybrid version of the mainline electrical multiple unit (MEMU) and Vande Bharat Express. Vande Metro is being launched inspired by the success of the Vande Bharat Express. Passengers will also get world-class facilities. All the coaches will be fully air-conditioned. There will be large glass windows and passengers can easily walk from one bogie to another.

All coaches will have route indicator displays and mobile phone charging facilities. A bogie can accommodate 100 people and more can stand and travel. It is reported that the new train will have Kavach system to avoid collision. Vande Metro will have most modern toilet facilities, CCTV cameras, wider and cushioned seats.
